Located on the most elegant street in the city, named Rua dos Ilhéus, where the nobility and people with more money settled. Here emerged the different Madeiran manor houses, called "Quintas" of which this one is part.
Recognized for their beautiful gardens, with centenary trees, charming porches and the vast majority have their own gazebo or "little pleasure houses".
This Quinta dates back to 1937, having undergone an intervention during the 80's. It was then rehabilitated and an extension to the main house was created, where are currently located the large living room, the gym on the lower floor and on the roof a large panoramic terrace. In the front yard of the main house, also called "terreiro" in Madeira, you can see the floor covered by a beautiful traditional Madeiran pavement, made with small black and white pebbles, this is a handcrafted and artistic work, which is rare nowadays.
In 2016, the little pleasure house was renovated, transforming it into a T1 with an independent entrance from the main house.
In 2017, a parking area with capacity for 4 vehicles was created at the end of the garden.
Later, in 2021, a new intervention was carried out, providing the house with a beautiful swimming pool, where, however, care was taken to integrate it perfectly into the gardens of the property. This one is made of natural stone, called Pedra Hijau or Green Bali Stone, which comes from the Sukabumi region in Indonesia. It presents some green tones, which become more intense when wet. It is a volcanic stone from the island of Java, known for its therapeutic properties beneficial to health, derived from its mineral composition.
The main house has 3 floors, with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, pantry, dining and living room, lounge, gym, terrace and porch.
The little pleasure house has 2 floors, in an open plan living room with a kitchenette, a bedroom and a bathroom.
The "Quinta" is equipped with photovoltaic panels for consumption and production of electricity. Water heating is done using a heat pump. It has irrigation water and a tank for a reservoir.
This property accompanies and brings with it a bit of the history and tradition of the city of Funchal.
