Easy Jet Finds a New Home in Terminal 2 in Lisbon

Those living in Portugal who love to travel will be very pleased to learn that Easy Jet has opened its newest base this Thursday in Lisbon. For those not familiar with Easy Jet, it is a popular low cost airline that offers inexpensive flights to various European cities. If you are traveling out of Lisbon, you can take advantage of the five new routes which will be inaugurated. These routes hit the major cities of Copenhagen, Bordeaux, Venice, Amsterdam, and Asturias. Once again, the costs of these flights are very low making them much more affordable to a variety of different budgets.

This airline is based out of Great Britain and it has moved its operations into Lisbon's terminal 2. The airline is now set up to fly to a total of 21 destinations. That provides a great deal of flexibility for those wishing to book a flight to a major city in Europe. Once again, the ticket prices for the flights are quite reasonable which is also a plus. In fact, there may very well be tremendous demand for an airline that delivers excellent service with equally excellent fares.

The current 21 routes is exactly that - the current number of routes. The number will increase by another 10 which will expand the growth of the company quite significantly. In fact, it is estimated that the airline will generate roughly €60 million over the next five years.

The growth of the company could even expand further is the popularity of this airline continues to grow. As long as it provides low priced fairs to major cities then there will not exactly be many impediments to the growth of the airline.

Portuguese Economy Minister Alvaro Santos Pereira is very positive on the arrival of the airline. He was present in person at the opening and was pleased to announce the base would create about 80 jobs. Roughly 60 of those jobs will be earmarked for local employees.

Easy Jet Executive Director Carolyn McCall is even more optimistic about the airline's success potential as she believes in the coming year alone the airline will transport roughly 2 million passengers. When an airline provides excellent service, a great price, and also offers a wide range of popular destinations then it is likely to succeed.

How well Easy Jet succeeds will be revealed in time. Hopefully, it will exceed expectations and grow into one of the most popular airline in Lisbon.
