However, the town's one claim to fame is its street market, held on the 3rd Sunday of every month, which fills the entire town and temporarily doubles the population, there is a huge visiting market selling everything from fresh local produce to clothes, leather goods and hardware! Great for those who enjoy a lazy Sunday morning browse. Post office, banks, chemists, shops, supermarket, cafes and restaurants are all here within a stone's throw. And just across the N125 coast road, is Manta Rota and its wonderful beaches. The beach of Manta Rota is the sun worshipper’s paradise with white expansive sands and good water for swimming. There is no need to take a boat ride as it is here that the lagoon of the Ria Formosa finally comes to an end! The car park can get quite busy in high season though. The beach offers amenities including sun beds, shade and some water sports in high season. There are also a couple of excellent fish restaurants to try. For those who enjoy walking, the coastline is long and easy to navigate with the neighbouring resorts of Praia Verde and Monte Gordo all within around 30 minutes walk.
Golfers will be delighted by the 36 holes of Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima golf courses, great golf and beautiful courses with sea views and olive-lined fairways.
