Boliquieme is a popular and sought after location not only for the locals, but also for holiday home owners or expats who want to be close to all amenities, but at the same time have more space, land, peace and privacy that a country side offers. With fertile fields and lovely valleys, Bolquieme has some great views over the ocean and a door open towards the hills at the back with many picturesque places popular for the rural and natural tourism.
Despite it’s small size, Boliqueime has a rich cultural patrimony with many appealing points for tourists, like: the traditional cobbledstone streets, the Matriz church, Sao Faustino church, a museum and the traditional wind mills and wells that used to be used for water supply back in the time.
Boliqueime is host of many religious and cultural fairs: Nossa Senhora da Dores on the 4th of August and 17th of October, São Luís e São Sebastião, in September and the São Faustino party, on the Sunday following Easter.
Excellent activities in the area are the walks in the country side, by the small rivers with crystal clear waters, the old wells and wind mills, the high points for observation of distant places and a variety of vegetation, like the wonderfully smelling Almond trees when in bloom!
