UK citizens and Portugal’s Golden Visa

The Golden Visa scheme is a relatively affordable investment option enabling non-EU/EEA citizens to fast track and obtain a special residence permit in exchange for a 5-year investment in Portugal. Since its inception in 2012, the scheme has raised nearly €5 billion for the Portuguese economy with over 8,000 Golden Visas being granted through the purchase of real estate.

As January’s Brexit partially removed free movement across Europe, UK citizens are now able to apply for Portugal’s Golden Visa. If you are a British national, the programme offers you the right to free travel across the Schengen area.
