ATA Trucks Their Way to Promote the Algarve in Ireland, Germany and the Rest of Europe

The Algarve

If you happen to be in a rainy part of the world then thoughts of the Algarve are surely positive ones that you can take a great deal of heart from! The Algarve Tourist Association (ATA) has been building on its reputation as a sunny place to visit by doing a whistle stop tour of Europe in a specially customised truck.

It has already visited several European cities and is currently making several planned stops in Germany to highlight the many benefits and charms of the Algarve. The event is being called "Algarve in Ihrer Nähe" in German, which means The Algarve Is Close to You in English. Unlike previous campaigns which have often been aimed at industry insiders and employees of holiday companies, this is a new approach by the Algarve Tourist Association which is aimed directly at the end consumer and potential holidaymaker.

The truck is being accompanied by a team from the ATA who will be available at all times to answer questions about the Algarve, as well as get much needed information about the region more widely disseminated. It is a sad fact that in the past many of the great amenities of the Algarve have been less well used by tourists then they might have been, simply because they have not known that they existed. So one of the key messages to come out of this event is to get some of those different activities firmly back on the map, so that tourists in the future know they are going on before they arrive in the resort, and hence get more from their holidays.

As the Algarve Tourist Association knows, half of the battle is making sure that people know what is happening with regards to planned events and activities, and so shedding light on that is important.

Of course there is also the stunt value of the whole event, because in addition to the on the ground information that the team from the Algarve Tourist Association are able to give out, the event in and by itself has press value, and so by default the Algarve is automatically getting coverage that it might otherwise not get.

In order to try to ramp up and enhance this coverage further there are also free competitions that people who meet up with the truck on it journey around Europe can enter. So that hopefully a very positive message and feeling about the Algarve will be left as an impression on the people who meet and greet the bus on its travels across the European continent.

One recent way that the Algarve Tourist Association sought to do exactly this was by attending an "Over 50's Show" in Dublin, Ireland from the 12th to the 14th October 2012. The main aim of this event was to further promote the Algarve to senior citizens, who are already heavy visitors to Portugal.

On this occasion it was also to emphasize that the Algarve is more than just a nice place to visit on holiday. It is also a great place to enhance all aspects of a full life both for the over 50's and those senior citizens who are either retired or will soon become retired in the not too distant future. This includes ways that visiting the Algarve can improve health, beauty, education and fashion.

In addition to the event that took place in Ireland and the bus across Germany, there are also planned events in Poland, Belgium, France as well as the Algarve to tie in with the Portugal Masters Golf Tournament.
