Castro Marim is a town filled with beautiful typical Portuguese houses, a town enjoying a slower pace of life, dotted with local cafes and restaurants.
The nearby saltmarsh nature reserve is home to some 153 species of birds, including storks, sandpipers and flocks of flamingos.
You can wander through the streets and still see local craftswomen weaving baskets and making fine lace work.
You can also easily travel to the seaside resort of Altura and the beaches of Praia Verde and Cabeço. If you want somewhere different where you can explore the countryside and relax into a slower pace, then Castro Marim is a place certainly worth visiting.
