Lagoa Continues to Thrive and Grow with the launch of Two Exciting Art Events

Lagoa municipality in the Algarve continues to be a thriving tourist destination, where thousands of people visit every year. The permanent number of inhabitants is low, however, there is always something to see and do when you visit. The most recent events are causing a stir, and are guaranteed to attract more people to the area.

The greatest art events that are being launched are the first of their kind in Lagoa, and are considered to be an exciting new event to help boost tourism even further. Over the last 15 years, this area of the Algarve has continued to grow and is incredibly popular. There are a number of factors that contribute to the municipality’s success.

These include the vast variety of different events that are organized in Lagoa, alongside the excellent facilities, stunning golf courses, and modern tourist resorts. The people who live in this area of Portugal are incredibly friendly, and will ensure that your visit is an enjoyable experience. The latest art events are welcomed by everyone, and are predicted to be a monumental success.

The first event is the inauguration of the Open VIII art exhibition, which is due to be situated in the Lagoa Cooperative Winery. The second event is the first ever Ferragudo Art Festival and is predicted to attract people from all over Europe. Both events are being launched on the same day, within hours of each other, which may seem like a strange decision.

However, the event’s organizers believe this is the best way to launch the events on Saturday 15th June, to ensure that a significant impact is created. Described as bedazzling, bold and bright these events will mark the third birthday of Portugal’s largest private art Gallery. Arte Algarve is one of the many popular tourist attractions in the area.

This art gallery is located within the Lagoa Cooperative Winery, which is a fully functional winery situated in the core of the famous city. The first event will be started at 3pm, with the second following just three hours later. The tranquil fishing village of Ferragudo will come alive with the stunning art festival.

Rolf Osang who is the founder of Arte Algarge, is the person to thank for these amazing events, as he has campaigned tirelessly to promote culture and art throughout the area. If you want to visit Lagoa whilst the events are taking place, the Open VIII is open every day throughout the summer months. However, the Art festival in Ferragudo will only take place on Saturday evenings.

It is thought that the art festival will bring some life to the beautiful and peaceful fishing village that has become a diverse location. The Arte Algarve is claimed to be helping the winery to remain open, by producing new ideas, and attracting different visitors. Since Arte Algarve chose the winery as their location, a vast array of talents has been discovered.

A staggering 45 different artists will be taking part in the art event at the winery, and many of these are well known established artists. Others are up and coming, but promise to delight with their talents and work. There will be hundreds of paintings on display for visitors to admire, alongside other pieces of art work including ceramics.

Over 800 people took part in last year’s inauguration of the Open VII and organizers are hoping that many more will attend this year. Alongside the art, you can enjoy the local wine, and there will of course be many samples to experience. You can buy the wine direct from the winery, helping to keep this bodega alive.

Although the Ferragudo Art Festival will be smaller, attracting over 40 different artists displaying their talents and crafts, it is believed that this event will be as successful. The relaxed atmosphere is always a fantastic way to enjoy the area, and join in with the local people. Throughout the night of the event, the quaint cobbled bridge will be closed to traffic, allowing visitors to stroll in safety. If you are considering visiting the Algarve, there is no better time when these wondrous events are taking place.
