Built around 1929, the old Companhia Insular de Moinhos Mill (aka “Insular'') sits in what is now the heart of present-day Funchal, Madeira. From the start, the building’s iconic chimney stood out as a beacon for the rest of the city.

While much of the original structure is gone, the towering chimney was maintained during the renovation, preserving this beloved local icon while creating a fresh, modern and spacious aesthetic; bringing the building’s architecture into the future.
