New Faro-Belfast Route With Jet 2

Recently Jet2.com announced they will begin flying a weekly route between Northern Ireland and Southern Portugal. These changes will come into effect as of next may and to celebrate the changes they are also offering a B1G1 golf club offer.

Airline officials are "excited" about the new route for next year, and feel people will really enjoy these once a week flights. May 26, 2012 is the official start date for the new route and will be available every Saturday.

Flights are already on sale so if playing a round of golf in Portugal sounds interesting to you, it is time to get in line for your ticket. These fares will start about €47.49 and up for a one-way ticket, including tax.

This route is already showing signs of being extremely popular in Northern Ireland. This could be due in part to the backing of Danielle McVeigh, World Champion amateur golfer from County Down. Of course, fare pricing is not to shabby either especially when you consider it includes baggage up to 22kg!

She states that she loves to compete in the Portuguese Open whenever she can, though this year she was too busy studying. Danielle, 23, is seeking a degree in Business and Management at Maynooth.

She also says that she enjoys warm weather training available in Portugal and is very happy that Jet2 has offered this new route. It is a direct flight from Belfast International Airport.

Portugal has several golf courses and more than their fair share of sunshine so this route will be good news to all types of golfers, whether they hail from the South or North of Ireland.

Northern Ireland has not always had a reputation that included golf, however that all changed when Rory McIlroy won the recent US open. At this time the small country boasts about 100 courses including the Royal Portrush Club, Royal Country Down in Newcastle and never forget the Hollywood golf club where Rory practiced relentlessly.

Keen golfers wishing to take their clubs on the flight between Algarve and Faro (either direction), can enjoy the special Buy one Get One free offer that Jet2.com has recently announced for the next couple of months.

The managing director of Jet2.com, Ian Doubtfire, recently commented on these changes: "Adding the Portugal destination means we now fly between Faro and 8 UK bases. We reiterate what Danielle has stated, this route is bound to be popular for independent travellers and holiday makers as well as golfers of every ilk." With their sister company Jet2holidays.com they will be taking all of the above out to the Algarve.

It is hoped that this additional route will be used both ways, that the people from Algarve region will find the added destinations useful. There are things to see for residents of both areas including beautiful golf courses, clean sandy beaches and perhaps even old friends or relatives who have moved to the area.
