Held every June in Lagoa, the International Algarve Fair is going to surprise visitors pleasantly once again this year. People who decide to explore the 2013 edition of the exhibition will benefit from the availability of mouth-watering meals and fine wines that are produced locally.

The Quinta dos Vales wines will represent local production in a stellar way. The brand has won over 50 national and international awards and it will give International Algarve Fair visitors a chance to explore its production. Some of the other distinguished wine manufacturers that will present their production during the International Algarve Fair include Quinta da Penina, Herdade dos Pimenteis, Monte da Casteleja, Quinta João Clara and Quinta Barranco Longo.

Quinta da Penina is another reputable local manufacturer. The company’s main goal includes increasing the popularity of the Algarve region as a highly competitive manufacturer of world-class wines. The company recently launched its Foral de Portimão Colheita Selecionada 2011, which according to the wine experts will be an option worth exploring.

The best regional wines are also represented by Quinta João Clara, an Alcantarilha estate that is recognised as one of the finest wine producers in Southern Portugal. The company has received a lot of national fame, once again establishing the good reputation of Algarve wines.

Award-winning wines from Herdade dos Pimenteis will also be available for tasting during International Algarve Fair. The Quinta da Penina, an Alvor family-run winery is popular for its experiments in blending different wine varieties and achieving balanced, world-class results. In 2010, the Herdade Reserva 2010 red received a gold medal in a regional wine copmpetition.

The sector of organic wine production will be represented by Monte da Casteleja. The company’s strategy received international attention and in 2010, the winery’s Maria Selection Tinto 2007 was added to the “Portugal’s Top 50 Best Wines” selection that is created by Sarah Ahmed, a British journalist and the founder of thewinedetective.com.

Finally, Quinta do Barranco Longo will stand among the best of the region at the International Algarve fair. The company is one of the most reputable and well-known among the regional wine producers. Quinta do Barranco Longo produced the spectacular 150,000 bottles of wine on an annual basis. The company has a large selection of red, rosé, white and sparkling wines.

International Algarve Fair will provide the visitors with an opportunity to savour and enjoy some of the best local foods. Whether visitors are interested in a quick snack or a complete meal, there will be various options to satisfy their every need.

This year, there will be both national dishes and international cuisine represented during the fair. South African specialties are probably one of the most interesting items on the International Algarve Fair menu. There will also be British, Indian, Thai and Spanish meals, as well as traditional favourites like fish and chips.

The menu will be incomplete without desserts. Visitors can have a pick among the numerous options like chocolate cake, candyfloss, chocolate kebabs and delicious liqueurs served in chocolate cups. Caipirinha cocktails, one of the creations that International Algarve Fair is famous for, will be available for tasting, as well.

International Algarve Fair will be held on June 1 and 2 at the Fatacil Fair Grounds. The event is family-oriented and it consists of numerous shows and parades. Stands allow local manufacturers and service providers to proudly present themselves and to get in contact with new customers. A number of restaurants open their doors, as well, to provide the visitors with a hearty meal. International Algarve Fair is also known for the traditional dog show that takes place as an annual event.

The 8th edition of International Algarve Fair will be carried out under the slogan “Love Portugal.” The slogan explains it all – the fair is an opportunity to praise some of the best local products and to celebrate everything that is making Portugal and the Algarve region popular.
