The organizing committee is gearing up for another great show this year! On the 13th, 14th, and 15th of July, the Algarve Classic Car show teams up with the Portuguese Federation of Motor Racing and Karting, the Historical Regularities Rally and also the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Ancienskicks to display some of the most elegant, impressive, and fascinating cars in the world.

The Algarve Classic Cars event is in its 20th year running, and is gearing up to be an outstanding event. Once again, the main focus will be on the participants with various impressive competitions and prizes awarded by prestigious sponsors of the event.

As in the previous 15 years, the RTP trophy competition will be held. As a new development, the exclusive Swiss watchmakers Frédérique Constant will be one of the event sponsors. Frédérique Constant will be awarding two highly valuable watches as prizes for the winner of the overall classification and the owner of the most elegant car.

As in past years, the event will again have its support base in the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura. This resort sets the benchmark for luxury resorts in Algarve with the famous Marina on one side and a private beach on the other. Guests will be impressed by the casino, golf courses and gardens, and competitors in Algarve Classic Cars 2012 will be pleased to find the same outstanding planned routes along with particular points of interest sure to thrill all participants.

Speed and adrenaline fanatics will be thrilled to hear that the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve has opened its doors to the Algarve Classic Cars event. This race circuit, also known as the Portimao Circuit, is an impressive 4.692 km race circuit that has played host to the final round of the World Superbike Championship in 2008, a round of the 2008-09 A1 Grand Prix, and a 1000 km night race in the 2008 Le Mans Series. It has also played host to testing session for Formula One with McLaren, Honda, Ferrari, and Toyota. As one of the best circuits in the world, this is an outstanding opportunity for car enthusiasts and adrenaline junkies alike.

In the event itself, organizers have outdone themselves in order to meet requests of participants and improve the efficiency of the event coordination. Two routes have again been planned, both of which should be a hit with competitors:

The Percurso Turistico route caters specifically to the handling circuit stages. Participants will not have to run all the regularities, and subscribers will enjoy a special classification.

The Percurso Deportivo provides 16 unique stages where competitors will participate. This rally will have strict classifications by which the organization committee will judge and classify participants and competitors.

These two unique routes will hopefully provide all participants with an experience that is catered to their particular tastes and preferences.

Participants should note that applications should have been submitted no later than June 27th in order to be included in the event catalog that is being prepared for this year’s show. Over 150 cars applied in 2011, and the organizers were forced to limit the final number of participants in the show.
