The number of passengers at Portuguese airports in June 2011 has grown by 8.8% over June the previous year, with a significant increase in passengers from Germany, Spain, France and the UK. The increase in passenger traffic has come from both traditional and low cost airlines.

Three airlines accounted for 61.4% of the traffic at ANA-managed airports: TAP, Ryanair and easyJet, with an increase in passengers of 35.2%, 14.4% and 11.8%, respectively. The largest increase in passengers was at Sa Carneiro Airport in Oporto; with a rise of 15.7% over June 2010. Faro Airport and Lisbon Airport also saw increases in traffic, with 4.4% and 8.8% more passengers than June 2010 respectively. At ANA-managed airports in the Azores, arrivals and departures were up 6.2% over the previous June.

Over the first six months of 2011, commercial passenger traffic at airports managed by ANA was up by 11.1% over the first six months of 2010. This increase in traffic is due in part to the introduction of 20 new routes from Portuguese airports: 13 new routes from Lisbon Airport and seven new routes from Faro Airport.
