After spending 8 months backpacking around New Zealand, Australia, the South Pacific and Indonesia, my husband and I decided that staying in the UK was not for us. In 2004 we decided to swap UK living for the more relaxed, laid back and sunny shores of the Algarve and since buying a "doer-upper" on the outskirts of the historic area of Silves we have never looked back.
Having worked for one of the largest English language newspapers in the Algarve I have been lucky enough to enjoy many of the Algarves famous, and many not so well known beauty spots, traditions and events. Following that with 5 years working within the leisure and tourism industry I found a real love of helping people to get the most out of their stay in the Algarve.
What do you like most about Portugal?
Being a real outdoorsy person I love being able to spend so much time enjoying the Algarves countryside without the threat of being soaked to the skin by the rain!
Living where we do, out in the hills behind the castle at Silves, mountain biking, running and quad biking are things that we both love doing, but would never have started if we weren't over here.
In over 8 years of being here we've found the Portuguese people to be so friendly and easy going - that is a massive plus. A happy "Bom dia" from the guy filling up with petrol on the pump next to you can really set you up with a smile for the rest of the day.
Why do you like working for Portugalproperty.com?
No matter what the size of the company or how many years it has been trading, you know when you walk in whether or not its going to work for you. At Portugalproperty.com you can tell as soon as you step foot into the office it's an energetic, dynamic and fun place to work. What do you like doing when you're not working?
My time away from work is when I can get into the outdoors and burn some calories! Anything from biking, running and dog walking to scuba diving, quad biking and the odd sky dive is where I'll be. As long as its energetic, adrenalin packed and exciting I'll give it a go!
